Manual Therapy

Manual therapy is a combination of techniques that are commonly used to treat pain, musculoskeletal conditions, and sports injuries.

Manual therapy includes:

  • Chinese medical massage (Tuina)
  • Myofascial release
  • Trigger point therapy
  • Acupressure
  • Spray and stretch maneuvers
  • Cupping therapy
  • Hot and cold therapy

Traditionally, manual therapy was developed from Chinese Martial Arts as way to optimize performance and increase recovery from injury. As these therapies evolved they were eventually adopted by both Chinese and Western Medicine.

Currently, these techniques are used by many  health professionals including orthopedists, physiatrists, physical therapists, athletic trainers, chiropractors, and massage therapists.
